Virginia-based artist, pres., wants to make music that will survive for posterity. With a keen eye for samples and a proclivity towards soulful ones, pres. delivers smooth instrumentals in his latest release, “Meditations.” But as an artist, pres. is much more than a producer; he also draws under the pseudonym “neuk.p.” Both sonically and visually, his art can not be understood properly without contextualizing it within pres.’s core beliefs of love, unity and empowerment for the marginalized communities of the African Diasporas. In fact, he donated the proceeds from his last tape “Earth Tones 2” to Theresa White’s Pan-African Family Empowerment Network, an organization dedicated to preserving traditional African-American land. “Meditations” was composed while pres. was in St. Lucia. The wavy sound and simple vibe of tracks like “BlackCoffee” reflect the easy-going pace of life in the small West-Indian island. Others, like “…WeLove” incorporate spoken word to reflect pres.’s beliefs and philosophies. pres.’s closing song “Oshun” (like the goddess) is his self-professed favorite track “because it resolves the tape in a
hopeful tone.” Delve into pres.’s “Meditations” now on spotify, soundcloud, and other streaming platforms.
